Pappy could keep an old tractor running with worn tools, duct tape, and a coffee can full of mismatched nails and screws. He taught me that useful things should stay useful, good materials should never be wasted, and anything worth keeping should be built for real work.

Years later, in the restaurant kitchen where The Lady May began, we rediscovered tallow. That same traditional ingredient helped give rise to Lady May Tallow—and to a tougher, more practical line made for hands, beards, skin, and gear.

What is tallow?

Tallow is rendered animal fat. Tallow Man uses it as the base of straightforward grooming and care products in practical formats such as balms, butters, bars, salves, and leather conditioner.

How much should I use?

Start small. Warm a small amount between your hands and add more only if needed. Concentrated balms and butters are easier to control when applied a little at a time.

Will it feel greasy?

Texture and absorption vary by product, amount used, skin, and weather. Start with less than you think you need and give it time to settle before adding more.

Are the scented products strongly fragranced?

Each scent has its own character. Bay Rum is warm and spiced, Tobacco Vanilla is rich and lightly sweet, and Old Time Barbershop is clean and traditional.

What happens in hot weather?

Tallow-based products can soften when warm. Store them upright, out of direct sun, and allow them to return to room temperature if the texture changes. Follow the label and contact support if you have a concern.

Can I use the Leather Conditioner on every kind of leather?

No universal leather-care product is right for every finish. Test it first in an inconspicuous area. Use it on smooth finished leather only unless the material maker says otherwise, and avoid suede or nubuck unless specifically approved.

We did not start Tallow Man to build another complicated skincare line. We started with a useful ingredient, products we needed ourselves, and a rule: if it does not earn its place, we do not make it.
